How T’ai Chi reflects the seasons: Spring

No New Year Resolutions here! We tap into the wisdom of our T’ai Chi ancestors and simply allow what is present.

As we are typically wired to force change with a strong will and PUSH, T’ai Chi offers a refreshingly different way of being.

This shift in mindset enables relaxation to begin as we become more able to open up our awareness and full presence…

We no longer crave to be in a different moment - “I got crocuses but am yearning the tulips!”

T’ai Chi in earliest Spring is a magical time. New beginnings galore!!

If we think of the opening movements of Part I on the Life’s Journey as described by Gerda Geddes - we get to feel hopeful again. That deep curiosity of toddlers who are in awe as they start to discover the world around them. And we can start to ride the faintest of momentums as we move and grow…

In wonder at what’s possible, and mindful of what’s unfolding in THIS moment.

Much to learn from our T’ai Chi heritage!

Spring term starts on 6 January 2025, please refer to the /Classes tab for our exact dates.

For Beginners

We will be welcoming some new beginners who have not yet experienced T’ai Chi. This is a fresh start. And the beginnings of a new focus on improving our health & wellbeing as we let go of the busyness and appreciate living in the moment.

Returning and new beginners will benefit from tuition on Part II of the Form, and weekly practice of Part I, which we run through at the end of every class.

For Intermediates

Welcome back to the Spring term! We will continue our practice and mini exercises which highlight key aspects of T’ai Chi - building energy and awareness, balance work, co-ordination and flow. We will mix up our mindfulness/ meditative preparations.
